Maldivian Diplomats briefed on Counter Terrorism and
Counter Violent Extremism.

The Heads of missions of Maldives who participated in the "Annual meeting of Heads of Missions" were briefed by National Counter Terrorism Centre on the Violent Extremism and Terrorism situation of the Maldives. The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohamed Asim and the senior Management of the Ministry also participated the meeting.

The Minister of Defence and National Security Hon. Adam Shareef Umar and Director General of National Counter Terrorism Centre Brigadier General Zakariyyaa Mansoor explained the present status and extent of Violent Extremism and Terrorism situation of Maldives and briefed the Heads of Missions on the counter measures being undertaken and the way forward. Maj. Ibrahim Naeem briefed the diplomats on the findings of the "Baseline Study on Violent Extremism" conducted to evaluate the characteristics, the extent and severity of Violent Extremism and Terrorism in the islands and communities of Maldives.

At the end of the presentation, Minister of Defence and National Security Hon. Adam Shareef Umar and the Director General of National Counter Terrorism Centre Brigadier General Zakariyya Mansoor responded to the queries put forward by the diplomats.
